We inform you that after the May Day holidays, on Tuesday, May 8, 2025, workshops will begin with a new (mixed) group of participants at the Manak House, part of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.

Beginner Level: “Hand Weaving School on a Vertical Loom – Kličan Technique”
Duration: 2 months
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 PM to 8 PM

In these workshops, we will use the traditional “kličan” weaving technique to create patterns and explore the symbolism of motifs found in Pirot kilims. Participants will weave double-sided textiles and create woolen bands, small kilims, blankets, bags, cushions, and other decorative and fashion items.

Pirot carpet weaving, a form of “living heritage” representing knowledge and skills related to traditional crafts, was inscribed in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Serbia in 2012.

Advanced Level: “Tapestry”
Participants will create their own works based on personal designs using the classic kličan tapestry technique.
Duration: 2 months
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 PM to 8 PM

The school is led by Sonja Rosić, a graduate textile artist.
This program is intended for everyone interested in learning this traditional craft, regardless of prior experience. The use of natural materials and a commitment to preserving cultural heritage will be the foundation of our workshops.
