Katarina Selenić Bojović, curator at the Ethnographic Museum, will speak about the role and symbolism of ritual breads, introducing the audience to the richness of traditions and customs associated with bread.
Cultural researcher Dimitrije Vujadinović will share stories about bread in times of war and peace, presenting the hard military bread from the First World War, as well as the authentic Cipovka – the bread that smiles at the moon, which is inscribed in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Serbia. Visitors will also have the opportunity to taste it on the spot.
A special part of the program is dedicated to the living tradition of bread-making. Members of the women’s association “Novoseljanke” from Banatsko Novo Selo will demonstrate the preparation of yeast bread according to an old recipe, passing on the knowledge and techniques preserved for centuries in families across Serbia.
Join us in celebrating this day dedicated to bread — a symbol of life, community, and cultural diversity.
