Exhibition “Toys That Hold Memories” Extended Until June 16

Due to great interest, the thematic exhibition “Toys That Hold Memories,” organized in honor of International Children’s Day, has been extended until Sunday, June 16, 2025, at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the childhoods of generations who grew up with wooden horses, rag dolls, spinning tops, marbles, and other handmade toys. While introducing the youngest visitors to the magic of play without screens and batteries, it awakens nostalgic memories in adults—reminding them of carefree days and the values that shaped their youth.

Curated by senior curator Mirjana Kraguljac Ilić, the exhibition features a selection of traditional toys once made by children themselves or passed down from generation to generation. The displayed objects reflect the creativity, resourcefulness, and joy that children found in simple things.

The exhibition invites all generations to explore the beauty and meaning of play, and to reflect on the values that connect past and present. Parents, grandparents, educators, and teachers are encouraged to bring children on a museum adventure that highlights a time when toys carried stories and emotions.

The exhibition is open to visitors every day except Wednesday, during the Museum’s regular working hours.
