As part of the project “In Search of the Lost Archive of the Circle of Serbian Sisters,” implemented by the Circle of Serbian Sisters, Belgrade–1903, the exhibition will open on 23 December at 7:00 PM at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade. The exhibition is the result of research and the collection of objects and documents related to the work of the Circle of Serbian Sisters (CSS) from its founding in 1903 until 1946.

The Circle was forced to destroy its archive twice: first during the First World War, following the Austro-Hungarian occupation in 1915, and again in 1942 by order of the German occupation authorities. The last official documents related to the Circle date from 1946, when its activities were banned and all of its property was permanently confiscated.

The exhibition consists of two segments. The first segment, presented on 20 panels, outlines the history of the Circle of Serbian Sisters based on known data as well as new sources discovered in the Historical Archives of Belgrade, the National Library of Serbia, and the University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade.

The second segment features objects and original photographs, as well as 20 original issues of the calendar Vardar, whose 120th anniversary will be marked in 2026. The exhibition will also include reprints of three key years in the history of the Circle of Serbian Sisters: 1906 (the publication of the first issue), 1914 (the last issue before the Great War), and 1941 (the 30th and final issue on the eve of the Second World War).

The textual basis for the exhibition includes writings by Delfa Ivanić (the 1942 Questionnaire stenogram and texts from her book Memoirs), as well as valuable data from the Glavinić Family Fund (Historical Archives of Belgrade), particularly texts by Dobrila Glavinić Knez Mihailović, a member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, journalist, and humanitarian activist (IAB-11119-K56-90).

The authors of the exhibition are Milena Šećerović and Nevenka Stevančević-Nikolić, members of the Circle of Serbian Sisters. The project coordinator is Danijela Krunić, President of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, Belgrade–1903.

The research, exhibition, and printing of the Vardar triple-issue reprint were made possible by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. The realization of the exhibition was supported by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, through expert guidance and the provision of exhibition space.
