Guided by a shared commitment to the preservation, interpretation, and contemporary presentation of traditional culture, the parties have agreed to jointly work—towards the affirmation of educational, cultural, and artistic values—on the preparation and realization of the Ethnographic Museum’s exhibition within the National Pavilion of the Republic of Serbia at the International Exhibition EXPO 2027, to be held from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
A special focus of the cooperation will be on presenting the richness and diversity of Serbian cultural heritage to both domestic and international audiences through contemporary museological approaches and innovative interpretative models.
On behalf of the Ethnographic Museum, the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Director Marko Krstić.
“In the year in which we celebrate 125 years of the Ethnographic Museum, our participation in the EXPO 2027 project represents both the highest honor and a foremost responsibility. Being part of what is likely the most significant project in the recent history of modern Serbia presents an exceptional opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage of Serbia and the Serbian people to the world in a representative, contemporary, and authentic way. We are especially pleased to be part of the National Pavilion, which is rightfully expected to be the most visited, as a place where tradition and innovation meet—all with the aim of bringing to life the spirit of play for humanity,” emphasized Marko Krstić, Director of the Ethnographic Museum.
The importance of this cooperation for presenting Serbia on the international stage was also highlighted by the General Commissioner for the participation of the Republic of Serbia at EXPO 2027, Žarko Malinović.
“By signing the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ethnographic Museum, we are taking an important step in connecting our rich cultural heritage with the contemporary concept of presenting Serbia at EXPO 2027 in Belgrade. This cooperation enables the authentic values, traditions, and identity of our people to be presented in an innovative way. I believe that our joint efforts will contribute to the creation of content that will strongly resonate with visitors from around the world and further affirm Serbia as a country of rich culture and an open spirit,” said Žarko Malinović, General Commissioner for the participation of the Republic of Serbia at EXPO 2027.
On the occasion of signing the Memorandum of Cooperation, the Director of the Ethnographic Museum presented the Office of the Commissioner with a medallion of the Ethnographic Museum as a symbol of recognition and future successful institutional cooperation.
