The exhibition “The Manual Way, the Educated Way, and Toiling Away”, authored by Marko Stojanović, museum advisor, has opened at the Ethnographic Museum, presenting a multi-layered story of folk culture during the socialist period, with a focus on people – their work, knowledge, everyday life, and values.

The exhibition does not present objects as isolated artifacts, but as testimonies of lived experiences and working practices. Through authentic testimonies, museum artifacts, and contemporary technological interpretations, including AI-animated photographs, visitors are given the opportunity to experience the past in an immediate and emotional way.

The exhibition highlights the social transformations of the second half of the 20th century – industrialization, urbanization, and changes in everyday life – presented through human experiences and material culture.

The display is conceived as an interactive space for dialogue between past and present, where visitors actively participate in interpreting the exhibited content. Different generations can find their own meanings – older visitors recognize elements of their own lived experience, while younger audiences encounter ways of life that no longer exist in their original form.

Special attention is given to younger audiences through educational and interactive content that introduces traditional tools, techniques, and work processes.

The exhibition “The Manual Way, the Educated Way, and Toiling Away” invites visitors to better understand the present through an encounter with the past and the people who shaped it.
