Embroidery, and to some extent lace, play a significant role in traditional culture. In addition to serving as decoration, they were a significant indicator of social status, material condition, but also different types of belonging. In many societies, lace and embroidery make up the bride for the wedding. All female family members participate in its preparation. Embroideries are divided by geographical areas, and laces by production technique. The collection consists of embroideries from Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, but also from other areas - Moravia, Greece and Bulgaria.
