MEMORY – field research of the Ethnographic Museum

The exhibition “Memory – Field Research of the Ethnographic Museum” marks the 120th anniversary of the museum through exhibits such as the ćurdija (traditional fur coat), spindle, and saddle, enhanced by modern technologies like augmented reality and digital maps that enrich the visitor experience.

Manak’s House

The permanent exhibition “Traditional Costumes and Jewelry of the Central Balkan Region” showcases the rich ethnographic collection of Hristifor Crnilović, highlighting traditional attire and jewelry from the “Šop,” Morava, and Vardar cultural complexes dating from the 19th and early 20th century. The exhibits reflect the cultural and geographical characteristics of the populations of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija, and North Macedonia, with detailed displays of elements such as the kaica (traditional headdress), litak (belt), ručnik (embroidered towel), and richly decorated haljeci (outer garments).

Folk Culture of the Serbs in the 19th and 20th Century

The permanent exhibition “Folk Culture of the Serbs in the 19th and 20th Century” showcases the influence of natural and historical conditions on people's lives, from housing and clothing to customs and economy. Visitors can see typical houses from various regions, urban interiors featuring both Oriental and European influences, as well as display cases that illustrate festive traditions. Tools on display reflect traditional economic practices.
