The Ethnographic Museum, within the exhibition space of Manak’s House, is organizing the exhibition “Traditional House of Upper Podrinje” by Dr. Duško Kuzović, graduate civil engineer and architect. The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, at 5 p.m.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 20 May to 3 June 2026 at Manak’s House.

The display presents traditional vernacular architecture of Upper Podrinje, a region encompassing the area between the towns of Kosjerić, Bajina Bašta, and Ljubovija, with a special focus on the development and typology of rural houses, as well as the ways of life and the adaptation of architecture to the natural and social environment.

Through photographs, textual, and documentary material, the exhibition showcases different types of houses, including single-space, two-space, three-space, and four-space dwellings, as well as houses with porches, which represent an important part of the architectural heritage of western Serbia. Special attention is given to structural solutions, spatial organization, and the function of individual parts of the house in the everyday life of the population.

The exhibition highlights the cultural, historical, and ethnological value of traditional housing and emphasizes the importance of preserving architectural heritage as part of cultural identity.

The author of the exhibition is Dr. Duško Kuzović, an architect and researcher of traditional architecture, who has been studying vernacular building traditions and cultural heritage for many years.
