Folk costumes from Slovenia

Number of Cases
55
A small-scale collection, formed in the seventies of the 20th century according to the borders of the former Yugoslav republic.
The collection contains individual specimens and sets of folk costumes, mostly of the Alpine type of folk costumes, represented in the clothing of the Slovenian population. The professional research of this museum material was increased during the period of presentation of museum funds at international exhibitions of the Ethnographic Museum, such as: "Folk Art of Yugoslavia" and "National Costumes of Yugoslavia".

The cultural and historical value in the collection belongs to a set of women's costumes from Bela Krajina, an area along the present-day Slovenian-Croatian border. The Dinaric type of costume is part of the traditional identity and culture of the Serbian population, preserved until modern times among the descendants of the settlers from the Dinaric regions.

The collection consists of 55 objects.

The curator in charge of the collection is Vjera Medić, museum advisor: vjera.medic@etnografskimuzej.rs
