Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade Receives the Main Award for Advancing Accessible Communication in Museums

At the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, on May 27, 2026, the award ceremony for the 2025 Recognition for Advancing Accessible Communication in Museums was held, organized by Caritas Serbia and the Museum Society of Serbia.

The main award was presented to the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade for the exhibition “Ceramics: Imprint,” authored by curator Jelena Tucaković, while the digital and inclusive segment of the exhibition was created by Marija Paunović, Head of the Department for Visitor Engagement, Program Implementation and Public Relations, and curator at the museum. The multisensory exhibition featured audio guides, tactile exhibits, 3D models, sign language interpretation, and an AI assistant available through a digital application, with the aim of improving accessibility and inclusion in museum practice.

The program also presented examples of good practice in the field of accessibility and inclusion in museums, while the organizers emphasized the importance of making culture accessible to all visitors.

The awards ceremony was organized with the support of the Office of the Attaché for Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection at the Embassy of Austria, within the framework of the ACTIVE project.
