Manak’s House will host the exhibition “Encounter with China”, marking the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute in Belgrade and its two decades of successful work promoting Chinese language and culture and fostering connections between Serbia and China.

To celebrate this important anniversary, the Confucius Institute in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, is presenting an exhibition of artworks created by its students as part of the major spring art competition “Encounter with China”.

The competition brought together primary and secondary school students, as well as adult participants in Confucius Institute courses, who used a variety of artistic forms to express their perspectives on Chinese culture, traditions, and everyday life.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see a carefully selected collection of awarded works that portray China from a distinctive, personal, and creative perspective. Through the participants’ artworks, Chinese culture becomes a space for encounter, inspiration, and exchange, as well as an opportunity for new discoveries and for bringing the two cultures closer together.

Over the course of its two decades of work, the Confucius Institute in Belgrade has grown into an important bridge between Serbia and China, contributing to a greater understanding of the Chinese language, traditions, and culture, while also strengthening the friendly ties between the two peoples.

The exhibition “Encounter with China” will be open to visitors from 9 to 23 October in the authentic setting of Manak’s House. Presented within a site of significant cultural and historical value, the artworks by Confucius Institute students will offer visitors an opportunity to discover China through art, while also exploring how its culture is seen through the eyes of the competition’s talented participants.

The exhibition also serves as a tribute to two decades of the Confucius Institute in Belgrade and its mission to build bridges between Serbia and China through language, culture, and art.
